History
I have been working with computers now for a little more than 20 years. My first computer system that my family had and I worked on was a HeadStart II. It had a 8086 CPU & 315 KB of RAM. It also was running MS-DOS 3.3. I will never forget when I got to see the inside of that computer. My Father was upgrading it to a 20 megabyte hard drive. After that moment in my life I studied as much as I could about computers and how to fix them.

I believe the best way to learn is by trial and error. This type of hands on experience is the best way to learn because you build a solid foundation along it's path. It does help with a mentor to guide you along the way.

I will share with you about a brief flash back of some of my first backup and recovery experience. One day I decided to go through the MS-DOS commands book. I got all the way to the command FORMAT. After I entered the command it erased the whole hard drive. I had told my Father about what I had done. He showed me that he had made a backup of everything on the hard drive and how to restore it.

This lesson of the importance of backing up user data has stayed with me all throughout my career as a IT professional.
